It’s Time To Say Goodbye…..

If you share your life with a golden retriever, you already know they don’t believe in bad weather days. Last night, four fresh inches of snow fell here on our 99-acre farm in Bradford, Maine — and while the rest of us were sighing at the forecast, our golden retrievers were already eyeing the door. Now, we’d be lying if we said we were thrilled. Like most of you, we are more than ready for mud season (not the mud just the warmth) green grass, and warmer mornings. But there is one thing that a fresh snowfall is genuinely good for — and that’s photography! The contrast of a rich, dark red coat against a clean white field? Pure magic. And we had the perfect subject waiting.
It had been a while since we’d gotten new photos of King George, so we jumped at the opportunity! King George is one of our largest and darkest American Red golden retrievers here at Windy Knoll — a big, sturdy boy with the kind of steady, good-natured personality that makes the golden retriever one of America’s most beloved breeds! If you have a Golden Retriever you probably know that this breed genuinely thrives in all four seasons. The cold doesn’t slow a golden retriever down one bit — if anything, a fresh snowfall brings out their playful, adventurous side. George was absolutely in his element out there, trotting through the snow with his signature golden retriever joy and that big, happy grin that never gets old! It is one of the things we love about living in New England, every season brings something beautiful, and our golden retrievers never let us forget to stop and appreciate it!
