Free Gift

God’s Gift of Everlasting Life is Free Just as Every Gift is Free

God’s Free Gift

The greatest gift anyone could ever receive is FREE because of a love story written in blood on a wooden cross 2000 years ago. Read the following Scriptures to see how you can receive the free gift of eternal life that includes the complete forgiveness of sins, a permanent right standing before God and the promise of spending eternity in heaven.

God’s Perfection – HE IS HOLY

God is majestic in holiness (Exodus 15:11.). Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne (Psalm 97:2). God is a righteous judge (Psalm 7:11). He cannot tolerate wickedness (Habakkuk 1:13). Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account (Hebrews 4:13). Those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24).

Man’s Problem – ALL HAVE SINNED

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you (Isaiah 59:2). There is no one righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10). We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The soul who sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). The lake of fire is the second death (Revelation 20:14).

Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). Without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

Jesus Christ Suffered the Death Penalty to Satisfy the Wrath of God Against Mankind’s Sin

God’s Provision – A SAVIOR

Jesus Christ is the blessed hope…our great God and Savior (Titus 2:13). He is the image of the invisible God…in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form (Colossians. 1:15; 2:9). For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). God made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people (Hebrews 9:28). Christ suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18). He (Jesus) is able to save completely those who come to God through Him (Hebrews 7:25). There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Man’s Part – REPENT AND BELIEVE: TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN

The Empty Tomb on the First Day of the Week

“What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). Repent and Believe the good news of Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15). Repent means a change of mind which results in a change of action. For example: many people believe that doing good and being good will save them from God’s wrath against their sin. Repentance from that belief means a change in faith from good works for salvation to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for salvation. Here is the good news  whereby we can be saved: Jesus Christ died on a Roman cross for our sins; He was buried, and raised to life from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:2-4). The good news (Gospel) is a person: Jesus. He is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe it (Romans 1:16). If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and with your mouth that you confess and are saved (Romans 10:9-10).

God’s Promise – ETERNAL LIFE

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:13). Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him (John 3:36). Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29). God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable (Romans 11:29).

Man’s Privilege – SERVE THE KING

To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, ambassadors for Christ, citizens of heaven and co-heirs with Christ (John 1:12; Phil. 3:20; 2 Cor. 5:20; Rom. 8:17; Gal. 4:5). Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation (Mark 16:15).

How Will You Respond to God’s Word?

Jesus said He will judge those who reject Him and His Word (John 12:48). He also said if you do not believe He is who He claims to be, you will die in your sins (John 8:24). There is only one way to be saved – by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace (Romans 11:6). You must cease from trusting in anything you DO to save yourself and put all your trust in Jesus and what He has DONE – His sacrificial death on Calvary’s cross and His resurrection from the dead. This will give you a permanent right standing before God!

How will you escape if you neglect so great a salvation? Now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).

The postman has just passed and left our box full of mail. We can hardly wait to read it all! But as we turn the envelopes and folders over, one by one, the excitement and anticipation fades. What do we find today? There is one post card from a vacationing neighbor. Two utility bills. A subscription reminder. All the rest (and an amazing quantity it is) consists of offers trumpeting FREE in the largest possible type.“FREE installation”—with a two year contract. “FREE examination”— with purchase of hearing aid or eye glasses. “FREE grocery item”—with an equal or greater purchase. You know: buy one, get one FREE. All free, at first glance, but with strings attached. Strings, small or large, visible or hidden, are always present and the price must be paid. It is easy to feel cynical about everything and to grumble, “Nothing in life is free.”

There is one offer that is real and truly free. You cannot pay for it; it is offered “without money and without price.” It cannot be earned; “to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5). Just believe in Jesus Christ… it seems too good to be true! His suffering and blood sacrifice for us on the Roman cross 2000 years ago paid the penalty for our sins which is death (Romans 6:23). God’s anger and just punishment for sins committed against him was satisfied when he sent His Son to die in our place. God has offered to save you from Hell for free, because he isn’t willing that any should parish (die) but that all should come to repentance (believe in the Truth).

It cost the One who makes the offer untold suffering; it brings the one who believes in him unbelievable joy. That does not mean there cannot be pain and sorrow still as long as this life on earth lasts, but through the darkest days the knowledge of who and what Jesus is and that He loves us so much—well! It is just totally beyond words to tell. He must be believed on; which is to know and enjoy him personally. (John 17:3) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him” (Psalm 34:8).
