So what is a Golden Shepherd? A Golden Shepherd is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd, and it brings together the best-loved traits of two of America’s favorite breeds. From the Golden Retriever side comes a friendly, gentle, people-loving nature. From the German Shepherd side comes sharp intelligence, loyalty, and a natural instinct to watch over the family. The result is a smart, devoted companion who is eager to learn and loves being part of everything the family does.
Golden Shepherds grow into medium to large dogs with a thick double coat that stays healthy and beautiful with regular brushing. They are active dogs who enjoy daily walks, playtime, and having a job to do, and they shine in training. Many families find them to be wonderful all-around dogs for hiking, obedience work, and relaxing at home together at the end of the day.
Beckett comes from Chytta, our German Shepherd from the Czech Republic with IGP1 and SVV1 working titles, and Bradford, one of our Golden Retrievers. He has the brains and devotion of a Shepherd along with the warm, family-loving nature of a Golden.
