Many Unique Color Shades
AKC golden retriever puppies come in all different shades. From almost pure white, to blond and finally dark red on the opposite end of the spectrum. Raising many goldens for almost 14 years, there is always a slight variety in color within each litter just as there can be great diversity from one litter to another. The first two goldens we ever had, Betsy and Rosie, were dark red goldens. Since Rosie was bred with an English Cream golden one time, she ended up with a light blond named Jenny which was our third golden retriever. Over the years our Windy Knoll Goldens’ color palette has expanded to include dark red field goldens, dark red show goldens, blond show goldens, and almost white English Cream goldens.
Goldens Will Be Goldens…Regardless of Color
These beginning days of spring in the North Eastern part of New England… central Maine to be exact… find our golden retriever puppies chasing each other around our expansive fields under an even more expansive sky. Dandelions are in full bloom, springtime bird songs float through the air and an occasional growl or bark sounds from the puppies as they tumble and roll. Playing “keep away” is a favorite game, as well as tug-o-war. Some of our older puppies love jumping into a wall of tall grass and bounding around in it only to reappear a short time later with happy, expectant looks on their faces. One of our darkest red goldens, Brad, who is pictured in the first picture, has had the unpleasant experience of meeting the mother cat of the farm and being on the unpleasant end of her wrath as she faithfully protects her kittens. Each puppy, regardless of color shade, becomes a wonderful companion to a loving home.
