Soft fluffy snow fell gently through the night here at Windy Knoll Goldens farm. With the dawn light, we awoke to a wonderful sparkling winterscape. All of our snug red kennels share a snowy blanket while our fields and meadows are carpeted in over six inches of white. Inside our farmhouse, the lights glow on the Christmas tree and a fire crackles in the stove. A Christmas Golden Retriever perches on a rocking chair. Family from out of town will soon be here.
It was delightful to observe how our goldens welcomed the snow. Clover and Daisy couldn’t wait to dash out into the snow. Betty and Molly, our 3-month-old females, plunged excitedly into the snowdrifts, rolling, tussling, and turning themselves into snow dogs. Lucy ran laps around the back field and followed all of the new scents buried under the snow. In-between joyous barks, Charlie tried to catch as many snowflakes as he could. Florence and Pickle added their energetic voices to the Christmas clamor.
We are eagerly waiting for Lady and Bradford’s puppies. These dark reds are due just into the new year-around January 16. Also anticipated, Goldie and George’s puppies will arrive about a week later. There will be more litters to follow in the upcoming months; we will let you know as soon as our breeding plans are finalized.
