It’s time for some new puppy photos, and they are worth the wait! Acadia and Brad’s litter of dark red AKC golden retriever puppies just turned two weeks old, and every one of them is plump, cozy, and growing by the day. Two weeks is a magical little milestone, the puppies are on the edge of some big firsts. Here’s what’s happening in their world right now, plus a fresh peek at these gorgeous pups.
At two weeks, golden puppies are in the “transitional period,” when they change fast. According to the American Kennel Club, a puppy’s birth weight roughly doubles by now, and the senses begin to switch on. The pups still can’t walk, but they’re pushing up on wobbly legs and squirming toward warmth and their littermates. Much of their sleep is “activated sleep” that adorable twitching that helps build muscle and nerves!
Right around now! Golden puppies’ eyes usually open between ten and fourteen days, so at two weeks Acadia and Brad’s pups are blinking at the world for the very first time. Their vision is still blurry, and their ear canals are just beginning to open, so hearing follows shortly after. It’s the start of a whole new sensory world for these dark red babies.
