Violet And George’s Irresistible 7 Week Old Golden Retriever Puppies

What a difference two weeks makes! Violet and George’s 7 week old golden retriever puppies have one week left with us before go home day on September 16, and the farm has never been noisier.

They have completely fallen in love with the outdoors. If we let them they would spend the whole day out in the grass soaking up the last of the summer, and we mostly do let them. Our favorite part of the day is still feeding time. The second these babies spot us coming with the bowls, the whole litter starts up in the tiniest, squeakiest little barks you have ever heard, and they keep it up right until the food hits the floor. It gets us every single time!

Our 7 week old golden retriever puppies are eating canned and crunchy food on their own now and are mostly weaned, although we should be honest and say that was our call rather than Violet’s. If it were up to her she would happily keep nursing them another four weeks. She has been such a wonderful mama from the very first night. If you met this litter in our five week update, you will not believe how much leg they have grown since.

Violet whelped this litter on July 22, so go home day on September 16 lands right at eight weeks. For the families making the drive, our puppy go home day checklist walks through what to bring and what those first 48 hours usually look like. A couple of these puppies are still looking for their families, so if one of them has been on your mind since the summer, our reserve a puppy page is the place to start.
