Violet’s Puppies Are Gone… Bittersweet Goodbye To Our 8 Week Old Golden Retriever Puppies

Violet’s 8 week old golden retriever puppies started heading home to their families on September 16, and that date snuck up on us the way it always does. We knew it was coming from the morning Violet whelped them, and we were still not ready for how quiet the field goes afterwards.

Not quite all of them left, either. Most went home on the 16th, and a few stayed behind with us to go through our puppy training program! It is a comprehensive system, and families choose the length themselves, typically four to six weeks. Their puppy stays on with us building a good foundation and learning basic commands! Our last trained puppy Winnie went home last week!

Violet whelped this litter on July 22, which landed them right at eight weeks, and it is the biggest litter of our season. If you saw them in their seven week update, you will spot how much they filled out in those last seven days.

Everybody sat for their own portrait before they left, which is the tradition around here, and these are the last pictures we took of them.

The question we get asked the most is this one. “Oh you must miss them so much when they are gone.” And yes we do. Letting them go is hard, but seeing the joy on the new owners faces as they meet their new best friend makes it a little easier.
