Professional Training Before Your Puppy Comes Home

Instead of going home at 8 weeks, your puppy stays with us a little longer while our trainers build a strong foundation in basic obedience and good manners. We use positive, reward based methods, so your puppy learns through encouragement and consistency in a way that builds trust and confidence.

Coming Home

Your puppy comes home at about 10, 12 or 14 weeks, depending on the program.

Every Program Includes

No matter which program you choose, your puppy comes home with:

  • Crate training
  • Potty training
  • Gentle handling for grooming and vet visits
  • Socialization to new people, places and sounds
  • Room, board and daily care the whole time
  • Updates on your puppy every week
  • A certificate of completion

A Head Start at Home

What Your Puppy Comes Home With

Training gives your puppy a head start on the basics before coming home.

You won't be bringing home a fully trained dog. You'll be bringing home a puppy that has been started in all the basics and has a good foundation to keep building on with you.

2-Week Program

Goes home at about 10 weeks old
  • Sit, down and come when called
  • Crate training and potty training, including overnight
  • Basic manners: no biting and no jumping

4-Week Program

Goes home at about 12 weeks old

Everything in the 2-week program, plus:

  • Walking on a leash
  • Waiting at the door and greeting people politely
  • Meeting new people, other animals and new places
  • Getting used to brushing, baths, and having ears, paws and mouth handled

6-Week Program

Goes home at about 14 weeks old
  • Everything in the 4-week program, with two more weeks of practice and socialization

Good to Know

Who can join?

Training is available to Windy Knoll Goldens puppies with a current reservation. Just tell us which program you’d like when you reserve.

Is boarding included?

Yes. Each program price includes room, board and daily care. If your puppy needs a little more time with us after training ends, boarding continues at $40 per day.

How many spots are there?

Training spots are limited each season, so please let us know early.

A simple start on the basics. Your puppy practices:

  • Sit
  • Down
  • Coming when called
  • Crate and potty habits
  • No biting or jumping
  • Meeting new people and hearing new sounds
  • Introduction to grooming and bathing 
Reserve with 2 Weeks

4 Weeks

Comes home at about 12 weeks

Everything in 2 weeks, plus:

  • Walking on a leash
  • Waiting at the door
  • Greeting people without jumping
  • Introduction to car rides
  • Meeting visitors and a calm, friendly dog
Reserve with 4 Weeks

6 Weeks

Comes home at about 14 weeks

Everything in 4 weeks, plus:

  • Stay
  • Meeting other animals, like cows, chickens, or cats
  • Visiting a new place
  • A full week reviewing every skill
